TEACH logoSouth Africa is experiencing poor learner performance in Mathematics and Science. Closely linked to this is the shortage of teachers in critical subjects such as Mathematics and Science. English being the language of learning and teaching, poses a challenge in the comprehension of these content subjects, hence the need to perceive English as a critical subject as well.

TEACH South Africa was started by the South African business community in direct response to finding ways to improve South Africa’s economy through means of improving teaching in core subject areas. After years of researching educational initiatives around the world the TEACH South Africa founding members decided to be part of the solution by placing highly skilled and motivated recent university graduates in the classroom. This not only benefits the learners and helps close the achievement gap that persists in South Africa, but also prepares a generation of learners to be better prepared for university and the workplace.
